Providing respite care is a form of “babysitting” someone with special needs. You would interact with them in their home or in the community, allowing a period of rest for their family or caregiver.
Habilitation is a form of tutoring for those with special needs. Habilitation provides higher pay than respite care due to the required goal implementation and data collection you will be required to do on the job.
You can help a child develop and improve skills for daily living in their home or with them in the community. This may include things like helping them develop skills or functions that they were incapable of developing on their own, and helping them develop their social skills.

You will work in a fast paced, dynamic and rewarding environment. You will be instrumental as part of a team that compassionately provides support and advocacy for individuals who receive services through the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).
You will be responsible for attending member quarterly team meetings; conducting service reviews; support families; oversee direct support providers; provide ongoing supervision and training for direct support providers; etc.
You will be responsible for maintaining a case load of members and overseeing their assigned direct support providers.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Develop and maintain rewarding relationships with members, families, providers, and support coordinators.
Maintain all necessary databases and electronic files.
Communicate with families and providers.
Support families and providers in advocating for their members/loved ones
Provide telephone, virtual and in person support as needed for members, families and providers
Develop goal plans for assigned clients in order to reach full potential.
Assist with identifying and matching direct support providers for your clients.
Contribute to the company's growth by networking and marketing.
Review and submit incident reports as needed.
Demonstrate conflict resolution by handling complaints and/or concerns from families or providers.
Keep up to date on DDD changes and updates.
Attend weekly team meetings.
Focus on clients growth and potential by ensuring reliable services are utilized.
Qualifications:
Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a strong plus
Minimum of 1 year direct support provider experience
Minimum of 1 year experience with supporting individuals/families - strongly preferred
Must have valid driver's license / Reliable Transportation
Knowledge of DDD services is a plus
Effective communication both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
PC literate
Critical thinking / Ability to make important decisions
Problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to adapt and adjust as changes occur
